Recommended Charcuterie Boards
There are 4 types of charcuterie boards that I regularly use and recommend. They are the oversized round lazy susans, round boards with raised sides, paddle boards and natural edge boards.
I rarely use small charcuterie board (smaller then 16″). I find them to be awkward to work with and run out of space very quickly. It is difficult for me to build a board with the variety I prefer with the limited space they have to offer. That is why I generally use boards between 16″-20″. They are the more versitile and give me the space I want and need to create my vision.
The Lazy Susan

Over-sized round lazy susans (16-20″) are my favorite boards to use as charcuterie boards. In fact, the majority of my project boards are done using my 20″ lazy susan. I prefer these types of boards for a few reasons.
1. I like the over-sized lazy susans, are that they are the easy to use by your guests. Instead of reaching over the entire board, you can can easily turn it for easy access to anything on the board.
2. They are easy to style, since you don’t have to manually lift the board up and turn it, if you need to access a different side or want to see it from another angle.
3. Their large size allows you to place a large amount of charcuterie, easily feed bigger groups of people.
The Raised Edge Board
Raised edge boards are preferred if you need to travel with a board, or are concerned about items shifting or falling off the board for any reason. They are more stable than a lazy susan board because the sides keep the food from falling off the edges, but a bit more awkward to eat from (as the raised edge can make it difficult to grab items on the outside.)
Don’t buy raised edge boards with the holes for handles. The food will slip out of the holes. They are pretty to look at, but trust me, it’s very frustrating. I prefer raised edge boards with either solid sides or with exterior handles.
The Paddle Board

Charcuterie Boards are quite the rage right now, and its not just because people love the food on them. They are beautiful to look at and fun to eat. Since the board you use contributes to the overall look of the board, I prefer to find boards that make a statement.
Most paddle boards are pretty generic looking and don’t add much value to your overall look. So when looking for a paddle board, I try to find ones that have a unique feature to them, like a slightly offset handle or a misshaped body.

There are other types of beautiful hand crafted charcuterie boards, but they can be difficult to find. If you have an old tree in your yard that need to be cut down, or know somebody with old trees, you can even make your own boards. Just make sure to do you research so the board is safe for food and durable.
